So Many Blackcurrants

I was thinking what I should do with all the blackcurrants Jen has picked this week. I noticed Mr Kipling made an Apple & Blackcurrant Pie, so I thought why not make a blackcurrant pie.

I was curious to see what made one of these pies, here’s the list of ingredients, with the dreaded palm oil….

WheatFlour (with added Calcium, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin), Sugar, Vegetable Oils (Palm, Rapeseed), Glucose Syrup, Diced Bramley Apple (7%), Bramley Apple Purée (5%), Blackcurrants (5%), Dextrose, Concentrated Blackcurrant Purée (2%), Modified Maize Starch, Humectant (Vegetable Glycerine), Salt, Acids (Malic Acid, Citric Acid), Raising Agents (Disodium Diphosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Preservatives (Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Metabisulphite (Sulphites), Sulphur Dioxide). Check out for yourself.

Here’s what my pie will be made up of….

flour, blackcurrants (freshly picked by Jen), sugar, butter, egg.

That’s just 5 ingredients vs untold from Mr K including palm oil..
