What’s happening next week?

My experiment for Monday will be a Curried Vegetable Pasty, and to compete with Greggs of Chepstow, I will be making this a Vegan Pasty. What makes this Vegan? Apart from the fact all the fillings will come from vegetables and pulses, my pastry will be made with dairy free butter, making it Vegan. The Vegan community generally have to pay through their noses for good food, we will be charging the same as a regular pasty, £2.00.

Our Cream Iced Slices got a lot of interest last week and we will continue with those, if you can’t get to us, then run down to A&H Jones the Butchers in Tutshill who will be trialling them.

My Cardiologist has planted an appointment at The Gwent on Friday bang on lunch time which blows a huge hole in us delivering to you, I’m hoping he will be on time but who knows what will happen up there.

Last Rolo for Valentines

Thursday brings us around to Valentines Day again, it’s the day when you should be considering leaving your last Rolo to your loved one. So, with this in mind, I will be baking Rolo Cupcakes ready for the big day.


This week is going to be a busy one for us, finishing up with Shirenewton Village Market which we attend every 3rd Saturday of the month. We will have all our usual goodies there.

Looking forward to my weekly challenge.

Here we are again, back around to Sunday. Monday is our day off from baking, this is where I try and come up with new ideas and work out the shopping list for the week.


My first thing to mention is the Chocolate Fudge cake I made, this was an 8 inch cake, to feed 10-12 people. I was asked if it could be sold in slices. When we started out nearly a year ago, we sold cake by the slice, we were often left with half a large cake, dry in the middle which the birds loved.

So, I suggest we meet somewhere in the middle and add a 4inch Chocolate Fudge Cake to our list of goodies, priced at £5 each.

Secondly, we went for a coffee today and noticed a dessert which sounded lovely but looked “oh so bought in” with a shed load of synthetic topping. So, I’m going to attempt a homemade one tomorrow. By the way, I won’t be saying where we went.
