We’ve had a lot of new “likers” join us this week, so just to remind you, if there’s anything you fancy let us know and I will try and get it made. We make extra so others can have a chance of trying our bakes.

I can’t take any requests for Friday afternoon as we have to make and ice 100 doughnuts for a wedding on Saturday.
Sadly, I have a hospital appointment on Wednesday which rules out the afternoon but I will try and sort out our usual pasties, quiches etc which we will still have every day.
So this leaves Saturday open for requests, if possible we will try and take requests for Sunday as we are missing Wednesday, perhaps some Apple Crumbles?? which I forgot all about this weekend just gone.
Finally, I’ve been asked to bake some 4 inch Christmas Cakes, they will retail at £8.50 each.
It’s still baking hot and August already, so that must mean it’s time to start discussing Christmas………..
First off, we have our Christmas Cakes, 15cm, 20cm, 23cm, priced at £19.00,
£33.00 and £44 respectively. These need to be booked by 30th September with a non-refundable 50% deposit.
In addition, we have a Yule Log at £7.50 and finally…..
Our Christmas Hamper, retailing at £40, this will include, 15cm Dundee Cake, 454g Christmas Pudding, mince pies, stollen, gingerbread men, shortbread and vanilla fudge, all of which will be homemade by yours truly.
WOW, that was a busy week, so we are having a couple of lazy days, I am, Jen is out delivering Avon. We catered for hen nights, weddings, birthdays and a picnic this week plus we were at Shirenewton Village Market yesterday.
This baking lark is a game of trial and error. We’ve tried the corned beef pasty which hasn’t taken off, in fact I think me and Jen ate most of them once they had been with us a couple of days. The quiches, pork pies and scotch eggs seem to be a hit, in fact I was thinking I could introduce a bacon and mushroom quiche.
Our Devonshire Split Bun were a hit with the “likes” on Facebook but sadly only 2 left the building, so we won’t be making those again unless there’s a specific booking of 12 or more.
Shirenewton was a hit, mostly we sold out but discovered everyday things like tray bakes didn’t have much interest, they liked more of the items you don’t see everyday, so we will be focusing on that at the September Market, Artisan Bill who normally sells bread won’t be there, so we will be offering some bread ourselves, al be it not as artisan as Bill.
So on to next week, Thursday is broken up as we are at a family wedding but will be back to offer you some weekend treats over the weekend. Monday we will continue to have our day off .

Next week we are fully booked everyday morning and afternoon. The mornings are spent baking for our delivery round and the afternoon I keep for private orders.
Last week’s edition of our Pork Pies, incidently made with fresh loin pork from Roser’s, smoked bacon, and fresh parsley from our garden, the pastry is made the traditional way, hand raised, really took off, selling out within a few minutes. I will now be making those twice per week but to ensure you get yours you will be able to book them.
I will be baking a different pasty/slice each day.

We had a number of people last week asking where our shop is. Believe it or not, we don’t have a shop, we work from our home kitchen with a Hygiene Rating of 4, my personal bugbear, we would have a 5 if we installed a sink and a half.
Finally, on Saturday we are at Shirenewton Village Market, 10.30am – 12.30pm, why not pay us and the other producers a visit.
Following another heart scare and almost a week long stay in the Gwent we should be up and running ready for Tuesday. As a few of you know I’ve been wanting a premises in Chepstow but alas, this latest health scare has hit home that we couldn’t possibly do this, especially with the high rents, I can just imagine another visit to hospital and still having to pay out rent whilst ill. So, with this in mind, we will continue to deliver in and around Chepstow, Bulwark, The Danes, Sedbury, Tutshill and Beachley. Also, feel free to collect from us. In addition, we will be delivering bread in Garden City, outside of here really wouldn’t be cost effective, however, like any other shop (I realise we are not a shop) you can buy from us direct.
Don’t forget we have an online shop, I have made a section with items that are available for immediate delivery or collection, I will try and keep this up to date by the hour.
Our Cornish Pasties have flown out this morning leaving us with just one left. Don’t despair though, we still have the following ……

We will be introducing the Salted Caramel Babka Knot at £1.25. The Blueberry and Raspberry Pavlovas will be making an appearance at £1.50.
The peanut brownies will be staying along with other favourites Vanilla Slices, Millionaire Shortbread and Chelsea Buns.
Bread is available everyday but you must order it the day before, it’s no good me baking 4 of each loaves, only to find the birds are benefiting.
We now have 4 different pasties available, Cornish, Chicken Bacon and Mushroom, Corned Beef and the Potato, Leek and Cheese pasty.
You will notice the online shop, here you will see the stock levels of everything we have. It’s all cash on delivery, so no need for debit cards and the such. I get notifications if you use the shop and then I don’t need to keep checking Facebook all the time, my mobile is caked in flour and cake batter now because of checking for missed orders on the phone.
